DIN 50939

This standard describes the principles of chromating aluminium substrates and specifies methods of testing the chromate coatings. It applies to refined aluminium and primary aluminium as in DIN 1712-1 and DIN 1712-3, wrought aluminium alloys and cast aluminium alloys as in DIN 1725-1 to DIN 1725-3, as well as aluminium-clad materials.

NOTE: The Gefahrstoffverordnung (German Regulation on dangerous substances and materials), MAKListe (List of threshold values for dangerous substances at workplaces and compatibility values), TRK-Liste (List of guideline values for concentrations of hazardous substances at workplaces) and Unfallverhütungsvorschrift Galvanotechnik (Accident prevention regulation relating to electroplating (VBG 57) are to be observed when applying this standard.
