This standard defines a modular framework for a Robotically Assisted Surgical System (RASS). The framework describes the hierarchical architecture, and presents the principles and specifications of the function module division and integration. A RASS is divided into basic function modules (including a robot execution module, a navigation module, and a human-machine interface module) and extended function modules (including an image diagnosis module and a surgery planning module).
The purpose of this standard is to define a modular framework for a RASS. This framework includes interconnected modules, and allows modules to be flexibly combined and replaced to meet the requirements of different surgical operations. The standard also helps enterprises, especially Small/Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups, which develop robot-assisted surgical equipment, to provide more universal modules and sub-modules to meet market needs.
New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft. This standard defines a modular framework for a Robotically Assisted Surgical System (RASS). The framework describes the hierarchical architecture, and presents the principles and specifications of the function module division and integration. A RASS is mainly divided into an execution module (EM), perception module (PM), human-machine interface module (HMI), image navigation/guidance module (ING), planning and decision-making (PDM), safety and security module (SSM), and other modules.
