This method is intended for off-line measurement of the coated fiber outside diameter, the coating noncircularity, and the coating-cladding concentricity error. Only the dimensions of the protective coating(s) are covered.
This method pertains only to coatings that are noncolored and/or transparent. If the coating is opaque, only the outside diameter and the noncircularity of the fiber can be measured using this FOTP. Additional measurements can be made on opaque coatings or buffers using FOTP-55,
