This standard describes electrically butt-joint-welded straight-seam or spiral-seam pipe and seamless pipe, 6 in. (150 mm) nominal diameter and larger, for the transmission and distribution of potable, raw, and reclaimed water, or wastewater or for use in other water system facilities.

It can be referenced in the purchaser’s documents for steel water pipe, 6 in. (150 mm) and larger. The stipulations of this standard apply when this document has been referenced and then only to steel water pipe, 6 in. (150 mm) and larger.
