The purpose of this standard is to provide the requirements for coal-tar protective coatings and linings for steel water pipelines—enamel and tape—hot applied, including materials, application, verification, and delivery. This standard can be referenced in purchase documents for hot-applied coaltar protective coatings and linings of steel water pipelines. The stipulations of this standard apply when this document has been referenced and then only to protective coatings and linings of steel water pipelines with hot-applied coal-tar enamel systems and to hot-applied coal-tar tape on the exterior of special sections, connections, and fittings.
